Sylvester Stallone – Patek Philippe Nautilus with a blue baton dial

Actor and film producer Sylvester Stallone is wearing the legendary and today discontinued stainless steel Patek Philippe Nautilus with a case width of 40mm, featuring a blue baton dial. The iconic timepiece, designed in 1976 by genius Gérald Genta, is by many collectors regarded as one “Must Have” watch.

Overall Review

World-renowned master craftsman Patek Philippe is known for elevating complexity and fine details. This Genevan company has been leading the luxurious timepiece sector for about 200 years, establishing the bar for engineering and creativity with each new model. The Nautilus, currently one of the most sought-after versions among fans and collectors of such a brand, represents one of its masterpieces. Every piece has a unique identity and spirit, thanks to the identifiable octagonal casing and bezel. They were influenced by a ship’s viewport and the handmade touches (the “Savoir-Faire”).

Typically, the Nautilus has a history that dates back to 1976, when it wowed the world by being the first exquisite sports timepiece with nearly impossible complexities in an ultra-thin casing. Moreover, the Patek Philippe continues to inscribe its title in the history of elegance and great craftsmanship with each generation created for this variant. Because of this, only genuine aficionados of fine Swiss craftsmanship can recognize in this magnificent watch the characteristics that make it the pinnacle of any collector’s inventory.

The discontinued Patek Philippe 5711/1A-010 was launched in 2006 to commemorate the Nautilus’ 30th birthday. It became popular with enthusiasts right away, and as a result, its value has risen steadily ever since. The 40mm casing, which has a distinguishing porthole form, is slightly bigger than the predecessor and has an 8.3mm thickness.

An octagonal bezel frames the engraved black dial. Some call it the “garage doorway” due to the diagonal lines. The baton-shaped hourly markings are made of white gold and have a luminous treatment. The middle hourly and minute indicators are identical. At three o’clock, a window shows the date.

Compared to prior models, the horizontal design is still engraved and consists of elevated lines divided by narrower bars in depth. The two-line “PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE” emblem’s cartouche, which separates the lines, is also present.

A sapphire caseback on the back displays the Caliber 324 SC movement inside. Many of Patek Philippe’s inventions are included in this self-winding mechanism. The four-spoke Gyromax balancing rotor and its slotting poising loads are examples. The SilinvarSpiromax’s balance spring is another that keeps the oscillations at a 28,800 vph rate.

The movement has a 45-hour power reserve, and the main rotor is made of 21K gold. The polishing is also faultless. The steel pieces with bevels, round graining, and Côtes de Genève are other movement features. Also, there’s a solid reason why this movement carries the Patek Philippe logo.

This steel variation with a blue dial enhances the Nautilus’s straightforward sports design. It adds the ideal finishing touch for adaptability when dressing for casual and sophisticated situations. Indeed, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-010 is a watch that won’t miss the eyes of most enthusiasts. Besides, the measurements make it suited for both males and females.
