Ivan Rakitic – Gerald Charles Maestro GC 3.0 Chronograph in stainless steel

Croatian footballer of Spanish La Liga club Sevilla FC: Ivan Rakitic is wearing his Gerald Charles Maestro GC 3.0 Chronograph in stainless steel with a case width of 40mm.

The black dial features a chronograph with three steel sub-dials, and the weight is only 110g, including its bi-directional rotating, oscillating weight, why it is perfect as a sports watch.

About the Watch

Gérald Genta, generally regarded as the greatest timepiece manufacturer of all time, designed the Gerald Charles Maestro 3.0 Chrono. The steel GC3.0 Chronograph is another key advancement of Maison’s iconic Maestro model. It is available in steel for the first time after its debut in 18k rose gold. The new GC3.0 in steel weighs 110gr and has a new hand-finished manufacturing chronograph caliber.

Another noteworthy feature of this intricately constructed chronograph is its amazing 100-meter water resistance. The first model from 2006 was only waterproof to 30 meters. Years of research and development were necessary to create a thin designed housing with an irregularly shaped crystal that was also water-resistant. Furthermore, the Maestro was put to the test in real-world underwater scenarios.

The dial of the Maestro Chronograph, which is available in black, features a sunburst finishing. It interacts with light, generating ever-changing reflections, a theme that Baroque builders and artists used to better effect.

The hour, minute, and Chrono indicators are all curved, except for the center seconds hand coated with luminous material. The three subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock each have a circular frame, a snailed exterior track, and distinct white marks. The stark contrast between the black dial and white markers is striking and in keeping with the pieces’ sporting characteristics. The black band is made of a specialized vulcanized rubber engraved with Clou de Paris pyramids. It is designed for its exceptional water resistance, longevity, and comfort.

The basic movement is custom-made for Gerald Charles by Vaucher, a prominent Swiss manufacturer of high-end automatic movements situated in Fleurier. The open-worked bi-directional oscillation weight provides the twin barrels with 50 hours of power. The tiny movement, which is only 6.07mm thick, uses twin barrels to generate more steady power for the regulatory mechanism.

The bi-directional rotor is supported by ceramic ball bearings, while the equilibrium is variable-inertia. This means the weights on the spokes of the balance wheel may be modified. The anti-glare sapphire crystal on the polished steel caseback allows you to observe the mechanisms and handcrafted Fleurier-standard finish as the Côtes de Genève design on the bridges.

In addition, Gerald Charles has revived the famous Maestro casing for the Maestro 3.0 Chrono. With a 40mm overall fit, it’s been modified subtly but dramatically with more square edges. The unique chronograph pushers have never been seen before, and the entire form was created to lie flat on the wrist, with only 11.5mm of depth.

In general, Gerald Charles respects heritage and Monsieur Genta’s creations while integrating innovation and technological advancements. With a couple of Genta’s designs sitting in the current category, expect more from this forward-thinking business venture.
