Will Smith’s Ultra-Rare Patek Philippe Is Just as Extra as He Is

Real watch aficionados know that Will Smith is no stranger to high-end timepieces. The Hollywood icon has long been a member of the elite “watch guy” club, boasting an enviable collection that includes sought-after Rolexes, Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks, and even an underrated Universal Genève Polerouter, which he recently flaunted at the Grammys. But at last night’s Premio Lo Nuestro in Miami—a Spanish-language awards show celebrating Latin artists—Smith took his watch flex to another level with a truly rare and extravagant timepiece: the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (ref 5971P).

On the red carpet, Smith kept his outfit relatively understated in a contrast-stitch double-breasted suit by Pas Une Marque, paired with a simple black tee. But his wrist told a different story. The platinum Patek Philippe 5971P is a showstopper, blending luxury, exclusivity, and serious horological muscle. Often compared to its sibling, the 5970, this reference is the bolder, flashier counterpart, boasting 36 Top Wesselton baguette-cut diamonds on the bezel and additional diamonds marking the hours on the pin buckle.

This 2008 grail piece represents the pinnacle of Patek Philippe’s high-watchmaking craftsmanship. Beneath its dazzling exterior lies a manual-wind, Lemania-based movement with a perpetual calendar complication—a sophisticated mechanism that tracks day, date, time, and moon phase with incredible precision. Only around 2,800 of these watches were produced between 2004 and 2011, making them an ultra-exclusive addition to any collection. And with prices soaring well above £250k, this is no ordinary timepiece—it’s a statement.

For Smith, rocking this kind of rare Patek is par for the course. After all, he’s the guy who dedicated an entire song to Miami, complete with a music video featuring speedboats, supercars, and private jets. A high-gloss, diamond-encrusted Patek Philippe fits right in. The watch was sourced from Adam Golden of Menta Watches, a highly respected vintage dealer known for securing some of the world’s rarest timepieces. With Golden on speed dial, it’s no wonder Smith continues to level up his already impressive collection.

Fresh off his vintage watch flex at the Grammys, Smith proves once again that Hollywood’s appetite for high-end horology is rivaling even the music world. And with Y2K-era Patek Philippe pieces making a comeback, Will Smith might just be leading the charge.
