Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Review

It all started in 1972 with the introduction of the first of Audemar Piguet’s Royal Oak watches. It was the first luxury timepiece built of stainless steel and was well cleaned, refined, and decorated in the same way that precious metals were.

Thanks to this breakthrough, Audemars Piguet was able to experiment with a range of additional materials, whether classical grey wristwatches or unconventional downright. These materials included platinum, bronze, carbon, rubber, titanium, ceramic, extremely rust-resistant tantalum, and even cobalt-based alloys like Alacrite.

Audemars Piguet has a reputation for throwing curveballs when it comes to the materials used in its Royal Oak watches. Even so, this release sticks to tradition with grey timeless, valuable metal.

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, which was introduced at SIHH 2017 and is nearly entirely constructed of black to a grey ceramic case, and bracelet, is the right evolution for the Royal Oak. It demonstrates once again how good AP is at completing difficult-to-work-with materials. The watch underwent extensive research and development. Besides, the actual production is far more complicated than the typical steel Royal Oak.

Watch Description

The slate grey dial Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch features the classic Grande Tapisserie pattern commonly seen on Royal Oaks. In addition, it preserves the watch’s monotone appearance. AP got the balance right on this dial arrangement, which is difficult to do when there’s so much information to display. The month and leap year indication are at noon, while the date is at three o’clock, and the Moonphase and “Audemars Piguet” logo are at six o’clock.

Similarly, the day of the week is at nine o’clock. There are also the normal hours and minutes in the center. Rather than running seconds, the third center hand indicates even numerals 2 to 52 on the outer perimeter to show the week of the year.

The new caliber 5134, which has a power reserve of up to 40 hours and taps at 19’800 vph, is at the core of this watch. This makes it the most predicted watch for men.

The case is 41mm broad and 9.5mm thick, which is a near-perfect size made even better by the lightweight ceramic case. Since ceramic is tough to scratch, you can be certain that the timepiece will remain brand new for many years ahead. In addition, the water resistance is 200m.

In addition to being a complex piece of mechanics and skill, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks perpetual calendar is a sports watch. Individuals who are not interested in wearing a similar timepiece as their friends or neighbors thus prefer it.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak perpetual calendar is a timepiece that, like its owner, refuses to be cliché. However, by considering all of the details, the bigger question is how the AP Royal Oak wristwatches did not become the cult classics they are currently.

This Perpetual Calendar, which is nearly entirely constructed of ceramic, is a full-on flex that demonstrates AP’s design, engineering, and material expertise. This watch may be the best example of all the numerous disciplines in high-end watch manufacturing. Simply told, it is the best of Audemars Piguet and the Royal Oak.
