Prince Joaan of Qatar Crazy Watch Collection


Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, a senior member of the House of Thani, was born on July 23, 1986. He belongs to Qatar’s House of Thani and is Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s fifth child and the former Emir of Qatar. Furthermore, he oversees the Qatar Olympic Committee as its president.

Besides his wealthy background, prince Joaan is truly a devoted watch collector and enthusiast. In fact, he has a crazy collection of luxurious timepieces from renowned brands, including Patek Philippe and Richard Mille. During the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, he was also frequently seen sporting various luxury watches.

  • Richard Mille RM-056 ‘Felipe Massa’

On several occasions, Prince Joaan has been sported wearing Richard Mille RM-056 “Felipe Massa” Sapphire Tourbillon Split Seconds Competition Chronograph. The watch’s casing is made of solid sapphire blocks sliced and carved. Furthermore, because of the material, this watch is strong.

A manually wound tourbillon movement featuring hours, minutes, chronograph split seconds, torque, power reserve, and function markers, the fully skeletonized RM 056 movement replicates all its features. However, only five copies are available worldwide, making it an exceptional watch.

  • Richard Mille 27-03

The Sheikh of Qatar owns a fascinating Richard Mille 27-03 watch in his assortment. The red-yellow hues are not the only reason for his acquisition of the piece. Rather, this version features a tourbillon and an impact resistance that was analyzed using a 10,000G hammer pendulum (in which G is the equivalent of gravitational force).

In addition, this Richard Mille RM 27-03 is an extension of the extremely lightweight Thin Ply Technologies (TPT) carbon fiber watches. It was created for Rafael Nadal, a professional tennis player.

  • Richard Mille 67-02 ‘Mutaz Barshim’

Prince Joaan is indeed a fan of Richard Mille watches. The Qatari additionally owns the coveted Richard Mille 67-02 Automatic “Mutaz Barshim,” similar to the one worn by Karim Benzema at the World Cup 2022.

This timepiece was created in collaboration with Mutaz Essa Barshim. The casing is composed of quartz and carbon TPT and is colored in the national hues of Qatar, maroon and white. Moreover, it is the lightest self-winding wristwatch in the Richard Mille series, with only 32 grams.

  • Richard Mille

One of Prince Joaan´s collest watches is the Piece Unique Richard Mille RM 053 Tourbillon “Pablo Mac Donough All-Black”.

It features an armoured 45mm wide titanium case that has been coated with extremely hard diamond like black DLC. Two raised arcs display the time and the tourbillon cage, both of which at the 30 degree angle, allows the wearer to view it perfectly when in a horse saddle.

 

  • Patek Philippe Sky Moon

The Prince is also the owner of the fantastic and extremly  rare Patek Philippe Grand Complications Sky Moon Tourbillon 6002G-010.

This true piece of wrist art features a 18k white-gold case that has been entirely hand-engraved, and houses a  black dial with a perpetual calendar that has retrograde date hand and orbit of the moon.

The special 170 pieces limited Patek Philippe Nautilus Tiffany and Co with the reference 5711/1A-018 is another stunner the Prince owns.
