According to most people, the six-time NBA star Michael Jordan, who played for the Chicago Bulls, is the best basketball player in the history of the NBA. Now retired, Jordan still serves as a powerful brand ambassador and is the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Furthermore, the 59-year-old continues to significantly impact basketball, including its most illustrious club, the NBA.

Additionally, he has a relatively impressive wristwatch collection. Michael Jordan has always been recognized for his appreciation of good things in life, but he seems to be especially interested in luxury watches. He is particularly passionate about ordering personalized watches.

Some of the valuable watches from his collection include the following:

  1. The new timepiece from Urwerk: UR-220

Among the most intriguing watchmakers to reside in Switzerland is Urwerk. The standalone company is renowned for its innovative, outlandish designs, which use one-of-a-kind “planet” time-telling mechanisms. Besides, it’s known for using rare materials, including ceramics, carbon fiber, and special metallic alloys.

Michael Jordan was pictured sporting the newly introduced Urwerk 220 in rose gold at the NASCAR Cup Series Alley 400 at Nashville. There are just 10  pieces available of this timepiece.

An ordinary Urwerk is Jordan’s UR-220 (extremely high-tech). A time-only object made mostly of carbon fiber; it has a backward minute hand that travels over the 0-to-60-minute gauge. It encircles the 3-hour-depicting “satellites” before returning to “port” with the following hour satellite. On the back, there is also an “oil change indicator” to keep track of the interval among services.

Red highlights (a typical UR-220 features yellow or green embellishment) with the Roman numerals XXIII (that is 23, his famous jersey number) inscribed underneath the watch’s crown are what distinguish MJ as unique.

  1. Limited Urwerk UR-210 ‘Black Platinum’

Another one of Michael’s unique pieces is his most recent watch flex. Jordan was seen wearing a unique Urwerk UR-220 watch while mingling at the 75th Anniversary, 2022 NBA All-Star Game on the weekend in Cleveland.

The UR-202 is a similar piece that indicates the time; however, this latest edition has a design that is more developed and refined. The UR-210, which was first introduced in 2012, has what has come to be recognized as a classic example of modern independent manufacturing. The readings of the hours are carried down a longitudinal minute line by three four-sided minute markers acting as cowls. The massive sapphire transparent cover allows clear visibility of the system’s structure.

The UR-210’s wound-efficiency indication, which output estimates the transfer of energy inside the timepiece, is its distinguishing feature and what really makes it different from the other Urwerks. A nob on the piece’s rear enables the users to modify the intensity of the UR-210’s wounded system. An additional option the UR-210 gives you is to halt automated winding completely. In essence, you may convert it into a mechanically driven wristwatch.

  1. Rolex Sky-Dweller

Throughout his playing career, Michael’s collection of Rolexes has become larger. The Charlotte Hornets’ owner is frequently spotted watching games from courtside while donning one of his treasured watches. The stainless steel Rolex Sky-Dweller featuring a blue dial is one of these timepieces.

Apart from the Yacht-Master II, Sky-Dweller is the only Rolex watch that is very complicated. The complex timepiece, which utilizes the patented Ring Control Bezel to adjust a dual time as well as GMT functionality with a yearly calendar, combines two complexities.

It is a strong and attractive watch made of white gold with steel. The dial and white hourly markings provide excellent visibility.

Thanks to the two time zones, Jordan can travel effortlessly with his squad yet never lose track of time on his home ground. Its 42mm casing is sizable, and the innovative 9001 caliber, which boasts a 72-hour power reserve, powers the watch.

  1. Rolex Diamond GMT Master II

Jordan has also been seen rocking a Rolex GMT-Master II in yellow gold. This watch has a tonne of elegance built right in. It sports an 18k yellow gold Rolex Oyster 40mm casing. It’s not a typical case, though. On the bezel, it is covered in sapphires with diamonds, while the two lugs are covered in diamonds. A sum of 76 circular diamonds, 36 diamonds in unique shapes, and 12 sapphires are included.

It has every function a Rolex watch would typically have. It is a GMT Master II and has a second hand for a second time zone with a 24-hour cycle. It is also a 31-jewel self-winding watch with caliber 3185. If Michael decides to enter the court while wearing his watch, it has waterproofing of up to 10 ATMs. It features a resilient balancing and spring to sustain shock and fluctuations in temperature.

  1. Rolex Daytona reference 6241 “Paul Newman”

Jordan also has a classic Rolex watch in his collection. The extremely rare stainless steel Rolex Daytona featuring a black Paul Newman dial has been sighted on MJ.

Over the years, the tri-color (black, white, and red) wristwatch has become a household name and is considered the holy grail by enthusiasts. In 1963, a mechanically hand-wound Chrono wristwatch called the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was created to fulfill the demands of race car drivers.

The dial on the new Paul Newman’s Rolex is equally odd and exotic, featuring numerals in an art deco style and cross markings that end in a tiny square. The dial has red, additional character, and there is a slight “step” against the outside minute track as well as the center.

Michael also has the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 50th Anniversary edition. The anniversary watch had several achievements for the Daytona. These include an all-950 platinum casing, a chestnut Cerachrom bezel, as well as an icy blue dial that was formerly only found on platinum Rolex Day-Date versions.

Conclusion

Michael has a rather remarkable watch collection, which is not surprising given his prominence on and off the arena. Although it was clear that Michael favored limited edition timepieces like the Rolex Daytona, he also exhibited some affection for the simpler, understated designs. Moreover, considering the superstar’s fortune keeps rising every year, we shouldn’t be surprised to see him sporting some brand-new high-end watches soon!
