“El Pibe de Oro” (The Golden Boy) played for many clubs during his club career, but is most famous for his time at Napoli, where his is worshiped as a god after having lead them to their sole league titles, in 1987 and 1990.

In his international career Maradona played in four FIFA World Cups, including the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, where he captained Argentina and led them to victory over West Germany in the final, and won the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. Against England in the quarter final he scored a solo goal from 60 m that was named by FIFA as the “Goal of the Century”.

He died far to young at the age of only 60, but his football heritage is immortal.
