With the introduction of models IW388111 and IW388113, IWC Schaffhausen has expanded the Pilot’s Chronograph 41 range with a striking black dial color. The latest IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 Black timepiece retains the identical features as the collection unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2021. It comes with a typical matte black display and is presented on a black calfskin leather band or a fine-link steel bracelet.

In 2021, just two years ago, IWC released the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 series in response to the triumph of a lesser Spitfire Chronograph. The Pilot’s Chronograph is similar in that it has a more fair treatment on the wrist and a 41mm size made of stainless steel. The novel size was first offered in 2 dial colors—blue and green.

Among them was the IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG” Petronas Formula One Team piece. It featured a 41mm steel casing with a distinctive dial highlighted in black and turquoise. Moreover, it represented the company’s inaugural professional team watch in its long-standing collaboration with the racer team.

The stunning IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 Bronze wristwatch is another example. It combines a bronze casing, a marine blue display, and gold-colored hardware.

IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 Black piece, offered as the Ref: IW388111 and IW388113, is the newest addition to the Pilot’s Chronograph 41 family. With a 41mm diameter aviation-based design, the entire DNA is identical to those of its ancestors.

The stainless steel casing has a sleek fixed bezel, pusher components in the piston design, and a big screw within the crown. Likewise, the crown has knurling for effortless control even with wool mittens on, which also contributes to its 100-meter waterproofness rating.

Furthermore, the originality of this latest IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 piece may be seen underneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. Currently matte black, the dial is adorned with broad white baton markers and Arabic numbers, as well as hour and minute indicators in the form of swords. The hardware’s Superluminova treatment guarantees clear readability.

A streamlined chronograph seconds index in the center and three identical black chronograph registers further connect the dial. These counters are snailed and contain a revolving seconds timer at six o’clock, a 30-minute timer at twelve, and a 12-hour totalizer at nine. The spinning seconds feature a solid red hand, the only major splash of color in the entire artwork. Additionally, IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 Black dial features a day and date display at three o’clock.

Along with the release of IWC Pilot’s Chronograph 41 wristwatch series in 2021, the Schaffhausen-based company also unveiled a brand-new movement under their 69000-caliber line simultaneously. This latest watch is thus powered by the identical IWC 69385 automated winding caliber. It is composed of 231 different parts, 33 of which are diamonds. A bi-directional plunger wound mechanism, as well as a column wheel system, are also present to guarantee a robust 46-hour power reserve when completely winded. You can view the movement via the casing’s sapphire crystal rear, including a part of its perlage and Côtes de Genève adornment.

Lastly, there are two strap choices for the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph. Reference IW388113 uses a five-row linked stainless steel bracelet, whereas Reference IW388111 has a comfy black calfskin leather band. Furthermore, every strap has IWC’s EasX-CHANGE mechanism, a novel innovation that makes it simple and fast to replace the band or bracelet for any suitable wristwatch strap.
