Hubert Hurkacz – Gerald Charles GC Sport in Grade 5 titanium featuring a royal blue dial

The Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz is wearing a 39mm Gerald Charles GC Sport in Grade 5 titanium featuring a royal blue dial with Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12 on a blue vulcanized rubber trap.

The lightweight watch, tested by some of the world’s most successful professional athletes, has an overall weight of 50 gr and 8mm of thickness, which makes it exceptional as a high-performance sports watch.

Overall Review

The GC Sport is a stylish, high-performance sporting timepiece built on the unmistakable Maestro. It has been tried and accepted by a number of top professional athletes all over the globe. The piece’s 39mm casing is made of refined 5th-grade titanium, which is 40% light and 40% harder than steel. With a total weight of 50 gr as well as an 8mm thick, it is a watch that is actually lightweight. The screw-down crown of the wristwatch has been relocated from the right toward the left part of the casing. This ensures convenience in the movement and avoids friction when playing.

The GCA3002 mechanical manufacturing movement, which was exclusively modified in cooperation with Maison’s associate Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, is housed in the GC Sport. It is now 40% sturdier and 20% more resilient to the impacts and stresses brought on by high-shock movements. A number of minor modifications to the movement’s structure were also developed through custom assessment. The technicians increased the movement’s resistance properties without compromising precision or long-term efficiency by altering the restrictions in the screws.

Without using a shock absorber and maintaining the movement’s incredibly small 3.7mm profile, more shock resilience has been added. The mechanism was modified to allow the 180° rotation needed to position the crown on the casing’s left edge. The date rotor had the most major alteration, necessitating a customized solution to make sure this would line up with the redesigned architecture.

The Arabic numbers placed at 3, 9, and 12 o’clock on the GC Sport’s bright, jovial royal blue dial have been selected to reflect the watch’s sporting nature. The dial was colored in stages by Gerald Charles artists in order to refract various hues based on the lighting. It appears violet in a warm glow, ice blue in cold light, light blue in bright sun, and nearly black as night sets.

As with all Gerald Charles timepieces, the GC Sport boasts exceptional waterproofing. Specialists and architects developed a custom system at Gerald Charles to guarantee equal force all the way around in the sapphire crystal’s edge as well as 100 meters of waterproof.

A royal blue vulcanized rubber band accentuating the dial and casing features the Clous de Paris symbol, a trademark of the Maison, on one side, with the tapisserie of the GC emblem on the other. The strap features a 5th-grade titanium “smile-shaped” clip buckle that gently mimics the curve of the piece’s case and is completed with a graduated pattern and the Gerald Charles emblem. The Maison picked a specialized vulcanized rubber for the band in order to ensure outstanding resistance properties, strength, longevity, and wrist comfort.
