Gerald Charles GC Sport featuring a 39mm case, cast in polished Grade 5 titanium

Tennis player Hubert Hurkacz, who is the highest-ranked Polish man in ATP singles history, wears the new Gerald Charles GC Sport featuring a 39mm case, cast in polished Grade 5 titanium and a ‘Royal Blue’ dial with Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12, on a vulcanized blue rubber strap.

The model is tested by some of the world’s most successful professional athletes and weighs only 50 grams, and is around 8mm thick.

Watch Description

The new Gerald Charles GC Sport in titanium appears to be a straightforward extension of the Maestro 2.0’s habillage. Whereas it preserves the original model’s general style, elegance, and refinement, it has been designed to provide better resilience and comfort when participating in sports.

Particularly when it comes to design, the core elements of the composition are similar. The new GC Sport casing, in this scenario, keeps the overall curves and dimensions of the gold versions. This results in a slim case with a width of 39mm and a height of 41mm, and a slim profile of just 8.7mm.

The design, a one-of-a-kind structure that blends graphical elements in a classic Genta fashion, is also kept. It refers to a circular, octagonal form with the trademark convex dip at the bottom of the case, a sort of enigmatic smile. The casing comprises eight components and has a double-stepped bezel with elegantly contoured profiles on both steps.

The case content is perhaps the most noticeable change. The timepiece is made of grade 5 titanium, which allows the refined finish to be maintained. Titanium is not only as strong as steel, but it is also around 40% lighter. As a result, the watch is only 50 grams (strap included) and should be somewhat comfortable due to its tiny size.

Another change is the crown’s placement, which has a Destro outline. Of course, the goal was to prevent friction while playing; but only if you wore it on your left wrist. The movement is the subject of the remaining evolutions in shock resistance.

The new Gerald Charles GC Sport features a redesigned dial design that is more in keeping with the watch’s purpose. It has Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12. The date remains at 6 o’clock, while all elements are mostly covered with SLN. It also comes in a deep Royal Blue color with a sunray-brushed finishing, complements the sporty design.

The dial is quite amusing since it comprises numerous layers of color (not all of which are identical), and it changes based on luminance. It is nearly purple in warm light, icy blue in chilly situations, and practically black in the dark, diffused settings. A tone-on-tone Royal Blue vulcanized rubber band with the traditional Clous de Paris design complements the dial. Besides, a titanium clip buckle fastens it.

On the other hand, the movement has seen its fair share of changes. The Calibre GCA 3002, built by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, is a well-known basis. With a similar spirit as the casing, this polished, ultra-thin mechanical movement has been overhauled. Still beautiful, but up to 40% more stress and shock-resistant.
