Floyd Mayweather Jr. (born Floyd Joy Sinclair on February 24, 1977) is an American professional boxer from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is a five-time world champion in four different weight classes, won bronze at the 1996 Olympics and has won the Golden Gloves three times.

Before he started boxing as a professional, he had an amateur score of 84-8, when he went by the nickname “Pretty Boy”. He trained under his uncles Jeff and Roger Mayweather, as well as his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. His uncle Roger is a former world champion and has boxed against Julio Cezar Chaves and Pernell Whitaker. Floyd Mayweather was named Fighter of the Year in 1998, 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2015, according to The Ring and other magazines. He has 24 wins (seven knockouts) against former world champions, twelve wins against current champions and two Hall of Famers.

His nickname “Money” is very appropriate, as he is the highest paid boxer of all time and the one who has withdrawn the most pay-per-view purchases (19.5 million PPVs) and has withdrawn over 1.3 billion. He also has his own promotional company called Mayweather Promotions.
