José Balvin, a Colombian artist, known as the “Prince of Reggaeton,” is among the most popular Latin artists of all time. Because of his success in the field and the 35 million recordings he has sold worldwide, he partners with the most sought-after timepieces and brand companies in the world.

The media has covered his watch collection extensively. However, his participation in the most recent edition of the hottest ones provided a small glimpse into his viewpoint as a collector. He discussed issues like the watches that were most difficult for him to locate.

Here are some of the watches from the musician’s lavish collection:

  1. Richard Mille RM 12-01 Tourbillon Sapphire

One of J Balvin’s luxurious watches is Richard Mille RM 12-01 Tourbillon Sapphire. This Richard Mille’s quality is remarkable, which combines material technology and watches. A technically sound and aesthetically unbreakable whole is created by combining an entirely transparent casing with sapphire crystal.

Influenced by the race car, the watch casing and base plate are one piece, enhancing stiffness and shock resistance. The structural shape of design and architecture served as inspiration for the outlines. The cylindrical slanted arrangement provides the best rigidity and torsional stiffness, as well as high resistance to heat fluctuations and corrosive substances. A bridge made of 5th-grade titanium alloy that has a unique three-dimensional system is composed of the bottom plate. This outstanding design is resistant to accelerations over 5,000 Gs.

The Swissstandard bespoke tourbillon movement via sapphire crystal boldly displays the highly hand-finished, refined pivot and satin, round surface coating, and high-refined fun blend of the movement. With incredible graphic effects and a translucent movement, RM overcame technological challenges to create this remarkable piece. This gives RM12-01 a vibrant and dynamic aspect.

  1. Richard Mille RM 52-06 ‘Tourbillon Mask Green Emerald’

Balvin has also expanded his collection of distinctive Richard Milles, adding a RM 52-06 “Tourbillon Mask Green Emerald.” One of the newest RM 52-06 Tourbillon by Richard Mille has a masked face as a follow-up to the RM 052 Tourbillon Skull in 2012. The designer claims the image can be viewed as anything from a hero to a warrior helmet or costumed mask. However, many believe it more closely resembles Marvel’s The Punisher.

In any case, it’s a change from the overused skull motif that has gained popularity among numerous timepiece and clothing labels over the years. Besides, it has features that distinguish it from other skeleton rivals.

The mask is completely integrated with the movement and is available in 5th-grade titanium and white gold in PVD treatment. The front serves as the center bridge and doubles as a wheel line as well as a tourbillon bridge. To emphasizes the curve of the mask’s rear, it was micro-blasted and refined using an anglage approach.

Similar to the RM 052, the tourbillon strikes on the front immediately underneath the opening, at which a ruby diamond highlights the cage’s center. Eight hands are carved from a single piece of 5th-grade titanium. They are also part of the skeletal baseplate that secures the mask as well as movement to the 49.94 mm by 42 mm by 16.15 mm casing.

Colombias José Balvin has added yet another unique Richard Mille to his collection. This time it is a RM 52-06 ‘Tourbillon Mask Green Emerald’ featuring a 50mm case where the titanium mask of the dial has been set with baguette-cut emeralds and perfectly integrated with the tourbillon movement. 1. Jacob and Co. Astronomia ‘Colores’

J Balvin has also been sported wearing a unique Jacob and Co. Astronomia ‘Colores’ watch, with a design influenced by his album. This stunning limited edition timepiece from Jacob & Co has been shown to the public, the 50 mm Astronomia Meteorite Multicolor, where fine jewelry and watches meet.

It is crafted in an 18-carat white gold casing with a diameter of 50 mm and features triangular multicolored sapphires on an amazing skeletal dial. It is a powerful and brilliant masterwork that is also graceful. The piece appears to be made of 133 triangular-cut sapphires in various colors that are blazing brightly. The power reserve of the JCAM18 movement is about 60 hours. The white gold clasp on the blue alligator leather strap is encrusted with 22 baguette-cut white diamonds.

  1. Patek Philippe Nautilus

Another valuable watch in J Balvin’s collection is the Patek Philippe Nautilus with diamonds. Since its inception in 1976, the Nautilus has served as the emblem of the sophisticated sports watch. This outstanding gem-set rendition of the classic design is made of white gold but almost totally covered in the finest baguette and brilliant cut diamonds.

The finest 316L stainless steel, which is a component that is extremely durable and resistant to corrosion, is used in the band. It is also water resistant to 30 meters, sufficient for everyday life.

Patek Philippe Nautilus is also composed of sapphire crystal. This gives the watch an easy view that can provide people with unique visual aspects while checking at the time. Additionally, the clear back cover makes it look beautiful on the wrist.

  1. Jacob and Co Triple Axis Tourbillon

The initial aim of the tourbillon was to enhance the accuracy of a pocket watch’s time management. The Astronomia Tourbillon brings this more than 200-year-old intricacy to breathtakingly high levels of contemporary sophistication and complication.

The Astronomia Tourbillon’s triple-axis tourbillon is a cutting-edge example of contemporary craftsmanship. The balancing wheel, hairspring, escaping wheel, and other significant parts are enclosed in the artistically painted cage. This exceptional tourbillon, which has an open-worked enclosure as its distinguishing feature, rotates on three axes simultaneously. If skillfully put together and fine-tuned, a cluster of exquisitely finished parts enables the Astronomia caliber to maintain the correct time during its 60-hour power reserve.

As a tribute to the conventional single-axis tourbillon, a complete revolution on the first axis takes 60 seconds. At the same time, the second axis of rotation takes 2.5 minutes to finish. The third axis of rotation is facilitated by the 10-minute, four-arm spinning base of the Astronomia movement. When designed with cutting-edge, ultra-modern techniques and classic horological history in consideration, tourbillons can work creatively.

Conclusion

It is clear that J Balvin is sufficiently ingrained in wristwatch culture to have a structured perspective toward timepieces. Besides, he appears to have spent more time learning about the item, industry, and market than just purchasing the models.
