Ed Sheeran – Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon ‘Extra-Thin’

English singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran is wearing the 100 pieces worldwide limited Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon ‘Extra-Thin’ in black satin-finish ceramic, featuring a black tourbillon dial with a “Tapisserie Evolutive” pattern. Due to the ceramic finish, the 41mm case is seven times harder than steel.

About the Watch

Audemars Piguet produced a watch during the early 1970s that would permanently combine the realms of sport and elegance. Now, nearly half a century later, the brand continues to redefine the Royal Oak in new and exciting ways, guaranteeing that it remains among the most coveted timepiece collections worldwide. Audemars Piguet has accomplished this year by introducing an extremely limited-edition version.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin Black Ceramic is the brand’s third Royal Oak to feature ceramic materials. The model’s casing is built with a 41mm diameter and a 9mm height, and the whole case is composed of black ceramic, with the exception of the case back. In addition, the case’s rear, which, like metal versions, combines matte and glossy surfaces, is composed of titanium. The casing, which is water-resistant to 50 meters of pressure, is adorned with sapphire crystals on the front and back.

The model’s bracelet is composed of black ceramic as well. Having the Royal Oak bracelet in entire black, which is regarded as a design icon in and of itself, is an experience that every watch aficionado should have. On the other hand, the folding clasp is composed of titanium.

The platinum Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin is much heavier than its counterpart. This is all thanks to a weighty platinum bracelet with contrasting satin-polished finishes as well as mirror-brushed bevels and sides. Furthermore, this timepiece is about 70 grams,2.5 ounces heavier.

The back of the display case reveals the excellent hand-wound Audemars Piguet calibre 2924. There are 25 gems in this superbly completed in-house movement, consisting of 216 pieces. When fully wrapped, it gives a power reserve of up to 70 hours when beating at a 21,600 vph frequency. The movement has an additional flat tourbillon cage with a differential power reserve display on the backside of the calibre near the barrel and a complete rotation of the tourbillon in 60 seconds.

Aside from the magnificently ornamented ultra-thin tourbillon at six o’clock, of course. The entire appearance is sleek and classy, with a dash of sportiness that the Royal Oak is known for. The caliber is viewable through the sapphire transparent case back, which provides a view into the watch’s subtle internal workings. It also has a black dial with the iconic “Tapisserie Evolutive” pattern, white gold attached hour-markers, and Royal Oak hands with luminous coating, giving it a timeless look.

This timepiece is really pleasant to wear and sits perfectly on the wrist. The simple and classic look pairs well with other objects and would be a welcome addition to any watch collector’s collection. Therefore, a limited-edition model is an essential option for those who wish to experience the original Royal Oak concept in new materials and shades.
