Introducing the Revolutionary Ikepod Seapod Bronze with GMT

Ikepod was developed by Marc Newson during the 1990s and had a significant number of fans. That has all the potential to succeed, given new leadership.

Christian-Louis Col, a French developer with extensive business expertise and great enthusiasm for Ikepod, unveiled a fresh product idea for the company in 2018. As a result, he won back the respect and interest of the public. People applauded his efforts to create high-quality timepieces, like the latest Ikepod Seapod Bronze range, with recognizable and classic styles at more affordable rates.

The Ikepod Seapod series debuted in 2021 and was among the innovative Ikepod’s best daring and successful initiatives and fully realized the company’s DNA. Ikepod launched the Seaslug, a dive variant, in the 1990s. A mollusk (gastroPOD!) called a sea slug can take on odd shapes in nature. In addition to being the target of Newson’s admiration, the Ikepod Seaslug timepiece was highly peculiar and uncommon for diving clocks. This was considering that certain models had a width of only 37 to 39 millimeters, yet made quite an impression.

Fabrice Gonet’s Ikepod Seapod is a stylish reinterpretation of the classic diving watch style. Gonet became well-known for frequently designing absurdly expensive pieces, from incredibly intricate tourbillons to cutting-edge “wearable gadgets” for timekeeping. It was, however, difficult for him to achieve his objective of making a contemporary, affordable dive watch once he started operating on the Ikepod Seapod.

The Seapod line was introduced by the Ikepod the previous year to great acclaim. Due to its appealing form and the extraordinary power of attraction inherent in its patterns, the Seapods substantially increased the clan of devotees that enjoy Ikepod. Fabrice Gonet understood the aim of the incoming Ikepod to establish itself as a label that produces streamlined devices resembling alien ships, or even like beach pebbles, sleek convex casings. He was, in fact, “influenced” by Newson’s “mollusks” and pursued this ambition.

The original Ikepod Seapod models were in stainless steel enclosures around 17mm tall and 46 millimeters wide. This latest, limited-edition Seapods share the exact sizes as their stainless steel counterparts. At Ikepod, the current trend toward smaller timepieces is disregarded. The bracelet is fastened to the body directly because the Ikepod casing lacks lugs for the strap. Hence, the watches aren’t quite as large.

The 3 brand-new special edition Seapod pieces include bronze cases and green, grey, and dark blue displays. They also come in complementing silicone bands and a GMT feature that is unique to this line while paying homage to the Seaslug devices.

The bronze Seapods have a screw-down crown, waterproof up to 200 meters, and a sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective treatment. It also includes a perfectly merged unidirectional revolving bronze bezel, including minute markings identical to all variants. The hour and minute indexes, the triangular end of the GMT hand, the dial’s indicators, and the zero markers on the bezel all have luminous material.

Similar to a Seaslug, the Seapod features a “porthole” on the caseback where you can view the movement. The revolving bezel nicely complements the remainder of the case and enhances the form design. The dial markings, hands, and crown have characteristics in common with their antecedent, the Seaslug. However, they are good interpretations rather than exact replicas.

Ikepod decided to sell these special edition timepieces outfitted with the Japanese Miyota 9075 featuring a “real GMT” feature to maintain the retail value of Seapod Bronze at a manageable level. Since the primary hour indicator is autonomous, adjusting the time when switching time frames is simple. The Miyota 9075 is a member of the 9100 line of calibers, which the business markets as “luxury automatic.” It is a self-wound GMT caliber featuring 24 jewels, a 42-hour power reserve, and 28,800 movements per hour. It is only available to Ikepod and other chosen brands.

Lovers of Ikepod can be broadly categorized into two parts; the first group has no complaints about the design. The second seeks a watch with “something distinctive” to captivate the mind and feelings. Ikepod’s Seapod Bronze line is likely to meet both needs. Besides, considering that Ikepod will only make 50 timepieces in every color pairing will heighten your sense of uniqueness.
