Rolex GMT-Master II “Sprite” featuring a bidirectional rotatable 24-hour graduated green and black bezel

Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr. is wearing the 2022 release Rolex GMT-Master II “Sprite” in oystersteel with a 40mm wide case featuring a bidirectional rotatable 24-hour graduated green and black bezel.

Many models have decreased in price in the last few months, but this “left crown Rolex” is definitely an exception.

Overall Review

The Sprite, Rolex’s most recent GMT Master II series reference, was unveiled in 2022. This GMT timepiece has a Rolex green bezel that is both famous and black. One would assume that’s what will get many people thrilled, or at the very least, talking, but you’d be mistaken. As Rolex’s first left-handed piece, the revolutionary Sprite GMT Master II has always been divisive. The date window has also been placed on the opposite side, in addition to the crown.

Typically, both casual and devoted watch fans should be conversant with the 40mm Oystersteel casing of the new Rolex GMT-Master II “Sprite.” However, Rolex makes a number of adjustments to this iconic design. The bidirectional coin side bezel, glossy display edges, and extensive sporty lugs are all available and accounted for in this new model, though they have all been rotated by 180 °.

The GMT-Master II’s “cyclops” date display magnification, bold squared-off crown shields, and screw-down crown have shifted from their regular 3 o’clock locations to 9 o’clock. This is perhaps a nod to Rolex’s left-handed Chief Jean Frédéric Dufour.

The latest Rolex GMT-Master II “Sprite” dial pattern maintains the well-known gloss black dial pattern of earlier GMT-Master II editions while reinterpreting them with new components. The recognizable date display is now located at 9 o’clock alongside the crown, and the arrow-tipped GMT indicator is now depicted in a traditional Rolex green. It’s enough to give the conventional arrangement a modern vibe and prompt viewers to look again at the photographs. However, the style is still distinctly Rolex.

Rolex’s in-house 3285 automated GMT movement drives the GMT-Master II “Sprite.” As of 2018, the 3285 was and is still the basic Rolex GMT movement. The layout still provides excellent contemporary performance because of high-tech parts like a shock-resistant Parachrom hairspring, a high-tech Chronergy escapement, and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers. This includes a 70-hour power reserve and a 28,800 bph beating rate. This new model’s revised crown position interferes with the Superlative Chronometer examination that all Rolex movements must undergo. However, the company insists that the timepiece satisfies all requirements and that the movement has an excellent rating of -2/+2 seconds each day.

The GMT-Master II design is a Rolex symbol as the stainless steel Oyster band. Thus, it uses that iconic bracelet for this current model retains the look instantly recognizable and sporty. The more intricate and elegant Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel is also a possibility for the GMT-Master II.

Overall, the latest Rolex GMT-Master II “Sprite” gives one of the most well-known timepieces in the industry a new lease on life. This is due to the attractive new color scheme and an arresting “destro” arrangement.

The retail price is $12,000.00, but on the market, it goes for around $55,000.00.
