Roger Federer with a popular Rolex Daytona in platinum

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer is wearing the super popular 40mm Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in platinum with an ice-blue dial surrounded by a cherachrom bezel with a tachymetric scale.

The chronograph is activated by pushers that screw down like the winding crown when they are not in use, guaranteeing waterproofness to 100 meters. One press starts, stops, or resets the chronograph.

About the Watch

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona has some of the most interesting histories of any model’s series. It has been designed for racing car drivers and designated after the world’s largest city of speed. As a result, Daytona was created to aid race drivers in keeping track of lap times while being on track. It has since grown into the most instantly identifiable and valuable timepiece globally.

A 40mm Rolex platinum timepiece is distinguished by its ice-blue face, which is both subtle and rare. Rolex employs platinum, the greatest of metals for the most outstanding timepieces. Only the Cosmograph Daytona and Day-Date have these different dials.

The bezel, which is engraved with a tachymetric scale to measure typical speeds of up to 400 miles or kilometers per hour, is an important aspect of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona identity. The Cerachrom monobloc bezel in high-tech ceramic has a number of benefits, including corrosion resistance, scratch resistance, and UV resistance.

The deposit of a light coating of platinum in the numbers and degrees using a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) technology makes this incredibly robust bezel. It also offers an extraordinarily legible tachymetric scale. The monobloc Cerachrom bezel is formed entirely in one piece and secures the crystal to the center casing, ensuring water resistance.

Platinum’s silver white and brilliant luminance makes Rolex Cosmograph Daytona rare and valuable. It is one of the world’s heaviest and hardest metals, with unique physical and chemical properties and features like remarkable resistance to corrosion. It is, however, soft, elastic, and very pliable, making machining and finishing incredibly difficult and requiring a high level of competence.

The inclusion of 11 diamonds carved in three different sizes and dispersed around the edge of Rolex’s icy blue dial does not jar the feathers. More than you’d expect from a design Daytona model made of solid platinum, a diamond-set dial is available as an option.

This modern gem is secured to the wrist by a solid platinum Oyster bracelet with the model’s Oysterlock secure clasp. The model’s Rolex Easylink extension mechanism allowed the owner to quickly adjust the band by 5mm for a safe and relaxed fit.

In addition, the Rolex Daytona is made from solid 950 platinum and has an ice blue dial with a chestnut brown ceramic bezel. It has the same functions as the rest of the model’s modern Chrono collection. The platinum Daytona, such as the stainless steel variants, has a chronometer-certified movement and is water-resistant to 100 meters. This, thus, indicates that it is well equipped to withstand the strains of daily wear and use.
