Introducing Double Hublot Rainbow Big Bang Editions

Over the past few years, rainbow pieces have been quite popular, and as a brand recognized for its daring and vibrant creations, Hublot is somewhat of a market pioneer in the field. Hublot has recently unveiled two rainbow gem-set Big Bang timepieces with complementing integrated bracelets as part of the company’s launch for LVMH Watch Week 2023. This is despite the fact that the appearance itself isn’t very innovative anymore.

The two new variants are officially referred to as the Hublot Big Bang Unico Integrated Rainbow and the Big Bang Unico Time Only Rainbow. They are extremely somber and unabashedly opulent interpretations of a rather joyful overall look. Besides, they may be the most beautiful rainbow timepieces Hublot has introduced so far.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Integrated Rainbow

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Integrated Rainbow expands upon the fundamental concept of the company’s previous Big Bang Unico Integrated versions. It is made of refined satin-polished King Gold, Hublot’s exclusive combination of exceptionally warm-tinted 18k red gold. Moreover, it comes with a casing that is 13.45 millimeters wide and 42 millimeters in diameter.

When it comes to the watch’s fundamental outer case structure, it is primarily identical to the various solid gold Unico Integrated variants currently offered in the line. Some similarities include a finished angular casing, integrated lugs, and a distinctive bezel featuring six visible screws. What’s more, the whole case pattern is immediately recognizable as belonging to the Big Bang series.

Like the non-rainbow variants of the wristwatch, the Big Bang Unico Integrated Rainbow has a display design caseback as well as a combination of smooth sapphire crystals on the dial edge. Similarly, a wound crown with a rubberized cover is located at three o’clock and is surrounded by a pair of rectangle pushers.

The timepiece movement is the well-known Unico Manufacture MHUB1280 self-winding chronograph. This Unico MHUB1280 features flyback capabilities and operates at a speed of 28,800vph (4 Hz) with a roughly 72-hour power reserve.

Moreover, it has a distinctive skeletonized structure that enables the dial edge of the piece to expose its column wheel movement.

Big Bang Unico Time Only Rainbow

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Time Only Rainbow, inspired by the company’s existing Integrated Time Only collection, is another gem-set rainbow edition in this 2023 range. The Big Bang is typically described as a chronograph, although the Time Only variants adopt a streamlined time-and-date style (regardless of their “Time Only” title). Hence, it offers a lot of the Big Bang’s distinctive look in a more compacted and pared-down overall structure.

On the other hand, the latest Big Bang Unico Time Only Rainbow casing is made of the company’s exclusive 18k King Gold material. Moreover, it has the same dimensions as the other editions in this lineup: 40 millimeters in diameter by a relatively trim 9.25mm in thickness.

The Unico Time Only Rainbow, despite its status as the time-and-date piece, features the distinctive angular casing structure of the Big Bang series. It is also equipped with integrated lugs, is 100 meters of waterproofing, and has six essential visible screws on the rainbow gem studded bezel.

Furthermore, the MHUB1710 automatic movement drives this latest gem-set rainbow model, like its contemporaries from the Integrated Time Only line. It has a power reserve of about 50 hours and operates at a speed of 28,800vph (4 Hz). Also, despite its striking aesthetic, the Big Bang Unico Time Only Rainbow has a pretty modest overall appearance on the wrist. This is because of the MHUB1710’s slim design and average performance specifications.

Hublot Big Bang Rainbow Editions

In addition to producing various other gem-set rainbow timepieces in the past, Hublot made Big Bang Integrated variants earlier utilizing its own King Gold alloy. But for the first time, the company has matched one of its timepieces with a rainbow gem studded with a coordinating bracelet that is likewise covered in multi-colored jewels in these two brand-new models. The rainbow gems mixture is made of rubies, blue topaz, amethyst, tsavorite, and pink, orange, yellow, and blue sapphires.

Furthermore, the skilled gem designers at Hublot must meticulously choose and position every stone. This is in order to achieve the timepieces’ multi-colored gradation appearance because each jewel has a distinct color and brightness.

174 jewels are put into the casing and bezel of the Big Bang Unico Integrated Rainbow, and a total of 768 more gems are embedded into the bracelet.

Similarly, the Big Bang Unico Time Only Rainbow features 748 extra stones fitted into the connections of its integrated bracelet on top of the 176 gemstones on the timepiece body.

It may be argued that prior rainbow timepieces with complementing rainbow-tinted leather straps had a more rainbow-like look. However, no one has replicated this iconic palette in such an elegant way. This pair of gem-set rainbow pieces goes firmly on the spectacular and jewelry-oriented side, unlike the previously introduced Hublot MP-09 Tourbillon in rainbow-colored carbon fiber.

Hublot Manufacturing

In 1980, Carlo Crocco introduced Hublot, the inaugural watch company to use a combination of gold and rubber. In order to create a clock that was versatile, robust, and fashionable at the same time, Crocco set out to design it, and in 1980, Hublot’s recognizable style was established.

These timepieces are well renowned for their porthole structure (the word “Hublot” translates to “porthole” in French), refined and polished gold mixes, and plain black dials. Hublot was indeed the first timepiece ever to employ a real rubber strap.

Generally, Hublot’s unique design is what makes it so distinctive. The rubber wristwatch bands match and complement the dials on display, and because they are designed to fit any user’s wrist, they are lightweight and comfortable. Because of this, it quickly became the preferred timepiece for everyone who engaged in physical activity or physical work.

The company’s current headquarters are in Switzerland, where the magic takes place. Here, the distinctive timepieces are made in halls packed with equipment and watchmakers’ workstations. These watches are handcrafted with the utmost care in the Swiss factory, where they are also polished and put through testing. In fact, no device departs the facility without being rigorously examined for quality and functionality.
