Eminem started rapping when he was 8 years old and started performing at the age of 14. In 1992, Eminem appeared on the album Steppin ‘On To The Scene EP, which was Bassmint Productions’ album with six songs in it. He sang three of the songs in the album then under the artist name M&M while the other three were sung by Chaos Kid. In 1995, he made his first official song, Fuckin ‘Backstabber. That same year, he made his first demo album called Soul Intent. The songs on the album were Biterphobia, F * ckin ‘Backstabber with Proof, Fuckin’ Backstabber. In 1996, he also released an independent album called Infinite. The album received a mixed response from critics and many felt that Eminem’s style was too similar to Nas and AZ. Eminem followed up Infinite with The Slim Shady EP, where his lyrics had a much darker tone. Eminem had rapped a lot with his Detroit buddy, Royce Da 5’9 “earlier in his career and they were considered two of the very best MCs in Detroit.

Eminem is by many regarded as one of the best rappers of all time and has greatly contributed to the acceptance of white rappers in the rap music genre.
